About Austin Roller Derby

Austin Roller Derby is a collaborative between roller derby community members in the Austin Texas area that believe in uplifting this unique sport that originated in the Austin area.

In the early 2000s, Bad Girl Good Woman productions began the first all female roller derby revival here in Austin Texas. The game was fast, loud, and full of theatrics and spectacle. This organization was eventually shaped into Texas Rollergirls, the roller derby league that helped spread modern derby across the globe.

Since the birth of the vision to see women represented in contact sports, the scope of Roller Derby has grown significantly, boasting thousands of leagues all over the world. Roller Derby is now a home for transgender and non binary skaters to play a sport that they feel represented by. All gender and mens leagues are exploding in popularity, and youth derby programs are thriving.

Austin Roller Derby exists to serve the needs of the roller derby community as a whole in the Travis county area, providing free universal training programs and educational opportunities with the ultimate goal of creating a lifelong home and venue space for the leagues to practice and play.
